{"id":1880,"date":"2020-10-07T14:59:27","date_gmt":"2020-10-07T18:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/passionethistoire.ca\/?p=1880"},"modified":"2021-04-12T12:46:21","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T16:46:21","slug":"passion-histoire-blog-theatre-du-cercle-moliere-between-traditions-and-new-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/passionethistoire.ca\/en\/passion-histoire-blog-theatre-du-cercle-moliere-between-traditions-and-new-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"PASSION &#038; HISTOIRE BLOG &#8211; Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Cercle Moli\u00e8re: between traditions and new challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-10 col-lg-10 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12 mx-auto\"><strong>I will begin this story with a confession:\u00a0 I have never gone to see a play at the Cercle Moli\u00e8re Theatre (TCM).\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"description\" class=\"row block-sm\">\n<div class=\"col-xl-10 col-lg-10 col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12 mx-auto\">\n<p>However, I love the theatre, and every year, there are many, many choices of plays:\u00a0 a variety of pieces in all genres is presented to the public.\u00a0 For almost a century, the Cercle Moli\u00e8re Theatre, founded in 1925 and making it the oldest troop in Western Canada, has continued to entertain and inspire the audiences in the heart of Saint-Boniface on Provencher Blvd.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/VZK-Sy78qAEIJT31op-JkDan1gbCBjd5MrYScDE3WLTtxUJoSrG1z3g1BzpLx5cYsPFsNJZ9IRpYbi41KOdptWHYYXVpGswSAtASfl-ybRI9Z1aOyrTxUjwi7Z7ITtIwJ4fvXXbc\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The TCM usually offers 4 or 5 plays a season in their two rooms with 14 to 18 performances each. The productions are local, national, sometimes international, and numerous arrangements are made to ensure the theatre\u2019s accessibility to a larger number of people: childcare services for families or assistance and accompaniment services.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/qzuZU3gTMx9dIy7x78N59Gng-oO9PMjTxaw-5CaUtMDcFhFYB14WUmdpXT3kin5AoIzhH0M4NtePjkLMwh8HwBkGns266GULq4mNF7C5Il_EQFGHGH8zf98t11oTTDTy9ObHGaTi\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>All year long, short pop-ups are performed inside or outside of the building, like workshops and partnerships with other cultural institutions.\u00a0 Kids aren\u2019t forgotten either, with a theatre school, performances reserved for them, and monthly meetings on \u201cFamily Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, like it is for everyone, 2020 is not a normal year.\u00a0 Programming had to be integrally redone and continues to be rethought and modified as new public health announcements are made.\u00a0 The TCM went through three phases to simulate artists in a digital context.\u00a0 The first was to create from home.\u00a0 The second focussed on pods and the public youth.\u00a0 Finally, the third, which is currently in place, is the launch of more complex digital projects, like for example the \u201cEnvol\u00e9es th\u00e9\u00e2tres\u201d supported by the National Arts Centre (did you see the big mural in the CCFM parking lot?
